Yield: approximately 10 biscuits

Ingredients:

For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

For the Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl or measuring cup, mix the buttermilk with the melted butter until well combined.
  • Form the Dough: Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, being careful not to overmix.
  • Shape Biscuits: Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  • Prepare Topping: While the biscuits are baking, mix together the melted butter, chopped parsley, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  • Apply Topping: Once the biscuits are out of the oven, immediately brush the tops with the prepared butter mixture.
  • Serve: Serve the biscuits warm and enjoy!
