Apple Pie

Yield: One 9-inch apple pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (14.1 ounces) of refrigerated pie crusts for a 9-inch double-crust pie
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cups of thinly sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Prepare Bottom Crust: Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it firmly against the bottom and sides.
  3. Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Layer Apples: Arrange a layer of apple slices in the pie dish. Sprinkle a portion of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the apples. Repeat this process, layering apples and sprinkling the mixture until all the apples and sugar mixture are used.
  5. Add Butter: Dot the top layer of apples with small pieces of butter.
  6. Top Crust: Place the second pie crust over the apples. Seal the edges by pinching them together, and cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  8. Cool: Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
