  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x4-inch loaf pan.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Eggs: Incorporate the eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, beating until well combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and cloves.
  5. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just moistened.
  6. Fold in Apples: Gently fold the chopped apples into the batter, ensuring even distribution.
  7. Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
